I am still having memory trouble when using canon A1 clips. when the PF usages goes above my memory, Vegas crashes. Do people who have a Canon A1 but do not have a Quadcore have this probolem?
I could not get Vegas to capture Canon A1 footage (using the A1 or the HV 20) so I use HDVSplit. The memory problem is do to the amount of HDV clips that I click on or put in my project. Each time I click on a clip (even if I do not put it on the time line) My PF usage goes up. When I get close to my ram limit (I have 2GB) then vegas crashes. The only way around this is to chop the project into smaller pices and render them to a "AVI intermediate" before my ram is used up and then stich the projects togeter later. I have noticed that a lot of people with quad cores are having issues and people with the Canon A1. So I was wondering if people with just two cores are having any problems with the Canon A1, or is it just a Vegas problem, or maybe and video card problem. I am just trying to figure out my next step. This problem has been going on for over a year.
Good News. The crash problem appears to be fixed and I can now capture with Vegas, after I upgraded to Vegas 8c from 8b. I had held off because I was in the middle of a big project and read some reviews that were posting problems with 8c. I hope I have no rendering problems now. Anyway, thank you for your advice.
