Canon AVCHD - HF S20 30pf mode

Hello,

Shot some footage with this camera and imported into MS Platinum 9. It looks good, but the Media Info software says the video is interlaced. Even matching the properties of the file shows that the video is interlaced. Is it enough to just change the project settings to progressive video, or is a pulldown removal with something like Vegas Pro necessary to get true progressive footage? If the progressive signal is captured in a 60i format, how can you get to it?

VMSP9 is perfectly adequate for doing whatever you need regarding frames captured progressively but stored interlaced, as the Canon Vixia HF S20 30pf mode does.

If you want to read about all the gory details (recommended), read the 3/3/2010 post I made in this thread.

In summary, at least for Canon Vixia AVCHD camcorders, you can just set your
field order: none (progressive scan) AND deinterlace method: none
