Hi all....
I'm a big fan of the screenblast products, and recently purchased VideoFactory to work with digital video output from my Canon Elura 40MC. It was only here in the forum that I learned about the infamous fujitsu chipset firewire daisy-chain problem.
What I'm TRYING to do is set things up like this:
Canon->firewire port->Sony VAIO FXA47's i.link.
External USB2.0 80GB Western Digital HD->SIIG USB2.0 PC CardBus adapter->Sony VAIO FXA47's PC Card slot.
The camera to laptop connection works fine. But getting the external hard drive working is quite another deal. It's been slow and crashy. When I try to use VideoCapture -- and to open the DISK MANAGEMENT tab of the preferences dialog box, I time out. I DID notice that the SIIG PC Card takes an AC adapter - do you think that I'm timing out because I'm not getting USB2.0 speed (because I don't have the card's AC adapter plugged in)? The hard drive DOES have its own power supply.
I can't be the only person out there trying to use an Elura 40MC and an FXA47! Has anyone else gotten it together?
--thanks in advance
