Canon GL1 & Vegas

Hey Everybody,

I'm having a problem capturing the audio portion of footage I shot on a Canon GL1. I did a number of interviews using an EV 635A mic. When I try capturing the footage, all I'm getting is the video portion of the tape and no audio. The weird part is, when I play the tape back on the camcorder using the headphones to listen, I can hear everything perfectly. Also - the audio won't play out the camcorder's "normal" speaker. Is there a setting in Vegas that could help me out?

Help!

Sounds like some very wierd camera problem to me. The good news is it sounds like there's audio on the tape. Try to beg, borrow or hire a VCR and see if you can capture the tape with that.

Sounds like you captured the audio on "stereo 2". Vegas capture can't see Stereo 2. Download Scenalyzer Live which can capture stereo 2. You can set it up to capture Video+Stereo 2 into an AVI file. The way I normally have it set is to capture Video+Stere 1 into an AVI file while simultaneously capturing Stereo 2 into a separate WAV file.
