Canon XH A1 Qs

Hey All,

I've been reading alot of the posts about the XH A1 problems. I have two questions that I really haven't been able to answer:

1) Is capturing & editing HDV 24f in V7.x involve all of the problems? It seems capturing isn't a problem, but no one has addressed if a possible "fix" is to just keep the project in 7...

2) Are any of the XH A1 capture/crash/24f issues applicable to SD? How does V8 handle capturing & editing XH A1 footage shot in SD?

If I missed the answers, I'd appreciate a point in the right direction. If not, I'd appreciate some insight. I'm about to get this camera, but I'm not in the position (professionally) to go on a three-week trouble-shooting odyssey. I have the luxury of being able to either work in V7 or in SD for the time being, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

KH

((In SD mode, windows sees the A1 as any otehr DV capture device.
For HDV, you MUST have WinXP and SP2 with teh latest updates to get the bugger working properly.
Ive never had an issue and when i thought there was an issue, i didnt let it too far, so i popped V7 open and went there instead.)

((There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHIGN WRONG WITH THE CAMERA. infact its performance and image will surprise you, expecially its nmoise reduction filters at high gain... im really REALLY taken aback with it, and despite the ever so slight ghosting when using NR1 at low, its still perfectly acceptable in colour, even at 18db gain. And when you crank thi cam on a 1080p panel, you WONT see noise at 18+ Then again its taken me 3 months to tweak this bastard, but im happy.. ))

((Well i still use V7 until V8c comes out.. if ever.. if i have issues with 8, i jsut jump to 7. I dont use 8 unlss it has a feature i need.. at this time, there is nothign wihtin v8 which v8 cannot do, aside from multicamming

Thanks for the input. So SD (from the XH A1) works fine in 8 and HDV captures and edits fine in 7? That's good to know.
