Canopus ADVC-100

Any suggestions for the following problem? A friend of mine writes:

I bought a Canopus ADVC-100 analog-in-to-digital-out box that I'd plugged
my VCR into, per the instructions, and using the capture card in my HP
here, hoped to burn some DVDs of those old videos of the kids. I hook
everything up, and when I open my Studio DV program (to capture) I get a
prompt to insert the Windows98SE disk...then it can't find what it's
looking for, leaving me to have to re-boot to remove the prompt.
My pal in Atlanta has the same thing (hardware) and it works fine for
him, tho he uses another program to capture, edit and burn.
Frustratin'!
Any thoughts?

Just out of curiousity, have you tried using SonicFoundry's VidCap program? Also, have you ever used the firewire port in your computer before? If you haven't, then the drivers for it may not be installed yet, hence the OS install CD being requested.
