Canopus Procoder Express & CCE Basic your best choice of encoder

Anyone who does DV will know how much noise there is in the DV Video.
Solution: AVIsynth Filtering,Frameserving......
Why AVIsynth & not VirtualDub, because it's faster,better,.......
There are tons of posts on this forum about the quality of the integrated MainConcept Encoder in Vegas & some SoFo(SONY) recomendations:"Just use the default settings in the encoder & you will be fine",well not everyone wants to be stuck with "some" default settings.SoFo integrated this encoder with reason(considering price) as it's proven to be very reliable encoder, quality vise GOOD (but NOT the best).
I encourage everyone on this forum to try CCE basic or better(only for DV material) Canopus Procoder Express.
Do exactly the same encoding of your favorite video with the above mentioned encoders, compare the results with the MCE in Vegas & you will see the quality difference.
Also very nice feature in Procoder Express(this is for those who don't know how to calculate the min, avg, max bitrate to fit video on one DVD Disk) is FILL MEDIA,which auto-calculates avg & max to fit the video on one recordable media.
No explanations for CCE basic as anyone who used any CinemaCraft Encoder will know that THIS IS THE BEST ENCODER ON THE MARKET!
I recently did comparison between CCE basic & Procoder Express on DV material & I was very supprised that Procoder Express did better job.
Also forum member @Doom9 did encoder comparison between the two encoders & came up with almost the same results.
So,if you want Quality you have to PAY for IT,because plugs work but encoders give you QUALITY.

tried cinemacraft, but it generates .MPV files for video. dvda doesn't recognize them. tried switching .mpv to .mpg and it didn't like it. any suggestions?

You need to create a program stream file for DVDA. CCE Basic only generates elementary streams so you need to mux the mv2 and the mpa files together to create a single mpg file that you can read into DVDA. There are several free/shareware tools out there to do this. I use XMuxer from Moonlight Cordless:
