Cant Capture Video? Help?

I have windows XP with SP2 1G of mem a amd athlon xp-m proccessor, and a sony DCR-TRV33 DV camcorder, and vegas movie studio 4.0/sony video capture 5.0. Installation seem to go fine . when i capture video or capture tape it works fine for about 5-10 min then the preview freezez ,sound stops but the capture time keeps counting up, my camera is still playing, the capture program says i have two hours six min of time left........please,please, someone help,,,,,,,,thanks

Search around this forum , you will find a lot of capture discussions. One thing that springs to mind is heat, capture is disk and CPU intensive, if your CPU is running hot it could be having a "stroke" and causing the problem

But windows movie maker captures fine in any format?

The March 2005 issue of PC World has an article about some of the problems with XP Service Pack 2. They also briefly describe a Microsoft fix for Firewire problems with XP SP2. The magazine provides a link to the patch at find.pcworld.com. The solution number is 46420.

Thank You Im 90% sure My problems fixed. I just made my first DVD. I didnt have to edit the registry though, like it said on the update page?

I think the registry hack is only needed if you install an additional firewire card.
