i transfered a movie from my camcorder to a dvd using a dvd recorder, but when i try and insert the media files from my dvd file (video_ts) into the sony vegas movie studio, nothing appears for me to insert into my timeline. Does anyone have any idea what this means or how to fix it. The dvd works fine when i watched it on my computer so i know the file is there. thanks for you help

video_ts is a file folder. Try opening this folder and dragging the .vob file onto the Vegas timeline. If the audio is encoded as Dolby, then Vegas cannot import it, so you might want to search for dvd2avi which will allow you to convert it to a .wav file.

By the way, there must be hundreds of posts on this subject. I am sure you will be able to get many good tips by spending a few minutes searching the Vegas forum.

if it was a live DVD recorder. The video won't work in Vegas. Something about the way that it is encoded doesn't work in vegas. I wasn't ever able to fix it.

(my experience with this is with a DMRT-3040 DVD recorder)
