A "quicktime file" can contain many different types of encoded streams. See this post and let us know if it helps:

...and if you are using Vegas Pro 9.0 64-bit do you have the 64-bit version of Quicktime installed?

Hey guys, thx for the responses. I do have Vista 64 & had just installed quicktime before trying to imoort into Vegas. I'm embarassed to say that after the install of quicktime I did not reboot. When I tried again this morning, vegas saw the file & it worked fine! Thats the only thing I can figure.....

can anyone point me to the 64 bit version of quicktime? I'm searching around apple and am not finding the 64 bit version.
