Go to DVDHelp.com and check their huge compatibility list of DVD players. See what if anything they have to say about your make/model. The problem is DVD players, the set top variety that hook up to a TV, not DVD software for your coputer which is a whole different issue can have trouble with differnt types of media, meaning one brand may work fine in one DVD player and not in another. Also some, mostly older DVD players don't much like home brew DVD's. They will play the commerical variety fine, but stumble with "burned" DVD's or CD's. Again, check the list and see what's up. Also check the max bitrate... the next typical newbie mistake; cranking up the bitrate then wondering why the DVD won't play right.
I have found that aside from the brands which the makers of DVD burners sell, Verbatim and Fuji media seem to play in every set top player I have tried them in.
Billyboy is right about bitrates and some players. I would keep the max under 8500kbit/s.
