I have a mono signal coming in (Layla Digital 1L)

Recording audio:

In VV, If I choose Mono> Layla 1-2 Left- I get no signal
In VV, If I choose Stereo> Layla 1-2 In - I get signal as expected. But its only on the left.

Why cant I choose and track mono in?

You can. You just need to select a mono signal on your channel input. Right click the record icon and choose mono or stereo for that input

Don't bother. Just right click on the audio track, in Vegas and go to the "Track" tab and choose left only. The other option is to use the balance and drag it down 50% to the right side.
Edit: That's about the 3rd time Spot has beat me by about a minute or two. While writing a response.

As far as I can tell, i just outlined that I had done exactly what you suggest

In VV, If I choose Mono> Layla 1-2 Left- I get no signal
In VV, If I choose Stereo> Layla 1-2 In - I get signal as expected. But its only on the left.

this is all done, of course, on the track level...and it is not working correctly

please note, it previosly DID work correctly and I do know how to choose my inputs.

Also, on the Record Inputs drop down menu - Input Monitor options are missing, they simply are not there and they used to be.

very odd

my work around had been to track some audio then choose Left Only per clip which is a major pain

something got changed that has caused the interface to be acting this way.

Have you checked your Options>Preferences>Audio, and made sure you've got the Echo Asio drivers in there?
Have you checked your Echo control panel to be sure you've got it set to allow mono input?
