Cant trial Vegas Effects 5

I own a vegas post 20 license and i want to trial Vegas Effects 5 in vegas post 21. I downloaded the trial version, registered the trial, entered the trial code, activated the 25 day trial, launched vegas pro 21, closed it, launched vegas effects 5 and i get the error that i need to activate Vegas post before i can use vegas effects. I made sure to uninstall the previous vegas effects version before doing this. I then reinstalled the whole package, entered the trial code, ran vegas 21, closed it, opened vegas effects and again i get the error. I want to test vegas effects 5 to see if an amd driver issue was resolved. The issue i am having with vegas effects 4 is related to memory access during 3d renders where the gpu hits 100% load - program freezes, drivers timeout, memory access error. I've tried around 20 different drivers and many different AMD Adrenaline configurations and I tested in other OpenGL programs like Blender and i dont get crashes, so i am assuming this is a program issue. Also, is it possible to only upgrade vegas effects? I dont care if version 5 doesnt integrate with vegas 20, its not relevant for my workflow.
thanks.

Update: I also downloaded hitfilm express and tried rendering my project there. It works. So, its highly likely a program issue. And on second thought, I should be entitled to a hotfix for free if the problem is indeed in the vegas effects 4.

Unfortunately, in my experience, when it comes to Vegas Post, Vegas Pro has a trial version available but neither Image nor Effects do.

shame. Would at least like to test if its resolved. Now I am forced to buy a monthly from hitfilm to finish a deadline project. Hopefully I get a fair resolve from magix.
