Capture

When I capture a MiniDV Tape recording from a Sony camcorder through Movie Studio 17's DV Capture facility, it captures the footage as AVI files. When I play this on VLC, it reports the codec info at (res)720x576; Sample rate (32000Hz) and Bits (16). Yet, the same video captured using Cyberlink Powerdirector produces MPG clip with codec info (res)720x576; Sample rate (48000Hz) and Bits (32). It is clear that the latter is a crisper, better image. Why is MS17 undersampling? Is there a setting for this - I cannot find anything in Preferences?

When capturing DV with Movie Studio,if you are using firewire, you are doing a data transfer. What your are capturing is exactly what you shot. If you are getting 32k audio, that means you camera is recording 32k audio. Apparently Cyberlink is CONVERTING your DV file to MPG while capturing and up sampling your audio to 48k. It may look better, but it probably isn't. (that sample rate you list is audio only, has nothing to do with video quality).
