I am editing a music video style project with tons of edits. Lots of tapes to capture from. AlL VHS at present. I want to output back to VHS and make a Video CD. Project should be about 4 to 4.5 minutes when done. I want to have VHS quality video in both the tape and the Video CD. I have an ATI rage ALL in wonder card. I have several options for capture. Currently I am setting my capture paramaters to YuY2 packed data at 640 x 480 at 29.94. When I capture through my ATI TV card (Ch 3) set to component I get a file that says Microsoft Yuv at lower field first, which I assume is interlace. If I use the Video Factory capture program, I get all the same paramaters except it says progressive. Do I need to have interlace in order to print back out to video? I don't know what YuY means. What is the qualitiy of my video codec? Will it make a good VHS level video tape if I print out? What format should I render my edited project in for the best quality in VHS and in Video CD?
And last would I be wise to get a different video card? I don't have the bucks to buy a high end capture card. Any recommendations?
Thanks
