Capture Audio Bug ???

I have the following problem while capturing from analog sources.

After I have started Video Capture 4.0 all seems working fine. I see the TV picture and I here the sound of my TV card. Now, if I choose the 'Advanced Capture' tab window, the sound is gone. It's unpossible getting it back. 'Reconnect to current device' don't help. Only exit and restart of Video Capture 4.0 brings the sound back, but the I have the capture tab window again.

Has anyone the same problem or an idea to solve this problem?

Here my configuration:
Dell Dimension 4550, P4 2.53, 512MB, Soundblaster Audigy2, Windows XP Pro with SP1, Terratec Cinergy 400 TV, Vegas 4.0b. All WDM drivers are up to date.

Shouldn't have any prob with audio from the audigy 2 when captureing analog (assuming latest drivers), so I'd suspect the prob might be trying to capture analog in Vegas - doesn't do analog capture well. Check out AVI_IO, Virtual Dub, or search the forum for other alternative capture prog folks have had success with.

Virtual Dub works with my hardware, but then I can't use Sonic Foundry DV Codec, which should be very good.

By the way, I found that capturing with 720x576 is unpossible too with Video capture 4.0. It seems, that it's a very buggy tool.

You can generally only capture to the DV codec if you're captureing over firewire from a DV device like a camcorder or tape deck - in those cases you're more transfering data then compressing it.

Otherwise, DV is probably not of any benefit to you, & all you're doing is trading one compression method for another. Use one of the motion jpeg codecs or huffyuv & you'll get basically the same results on the timeline as using DV.
