Capture Card Comaptibility

Hi, Can anyone help ?

We've just installed Vegas 2.0h and are trying to use it with a FAST AV Master Capture Card. This card has worked well with all our other video software with and without an external TV Monitor. However, when using an external monitor with VV, playback of AVI's is hopeless. The 'in screen' prewiew is also affected - but only when external monitor is selected.

1. Are we doing anything wrong that can be rectified.

2. If the AV master card is incompatable, is there another card that could be recomended - we dont do any rendering etc., we just need to sync Cubase VST to previewed AVI's on an external monitor for composing
TV scores.

Any advice would be most gratefully received.

Thank you

The best method for using Vegas with an external monitor is to use any OHCI compatible 1394 (aka firewire) card and a DV to analog converter. PowerR.com makes a DV-Pal converter is you need to go out to a PAL monitor, otherwise consider the Sony DVMC DA2 converter. You can also use a camcorder in place of the media converter if it supports DV in.

So:
Capture your video as avi DV using the analog-DV converter

View the video off the timeline using Vegas external monitor>1394>media converter> TV.

This setup always works, and depends on no 3rd party drivers or codecs. It is also relatively inexpensive.
