ADS Pyro has been working good for a lot of people. But if they are 1394 OCHI complient, all cards should work. However - if you plan to use other stuff hooked up to the same card, don't do that while you're capturing.

i mean may know what capture cards you are using. Internal card.

I have this canupos ADVC 1394 which is OHCI compliant but recently i'm having problem on the card and i also read lots of problem encountered with the type of card in the canupos forum... so i thought it was really not a good one.

now i want to buy another one but really find it difficult to decide about what brand to look for.

any recommendations out there?

I too have the Canopus ADVC-1394 card and front bay. I have no problem with either Vegas or Pinnacle Studio 7 capturing either analog or DV. DV gave me a problem until I reset the jumpers on the Canopus card for the front bay setup, which I forgot to do when I installed the card. What issues do you have with the Canopus card? I have always considered it pretty dependable.

Using the Canopus ADVC-100 with the firewire connection works super...plus it frees up a PCI slot.

I have had absolutely no problems whatsoever capturing with this setup.

I tried the Canopus 1394 card and also had "issues." It kept "disconnecting." Had to reboot to have the card recognized. At the time, it was a firly widespread issue. I took it back the next day and got the ADVC-100. Best move I could have made.

Not one problem ever.

I have a western digital 1394 card, and it's worked great for me.....got it for $30 on sale. Unless you need analog capture also, I would suggest a western digital or ADS Pyro fire wire card.
