I'm going blind looking at capture card info. (does that
reduce the need for video?) Anyway, I could use the forum's
collective voice of experience on a final selection of a
capture card for use with Vegas Video. I'll need to
capture from a variety of sources, not just DV
Here are the big requirements:
*Firewire i/o AND native DV file creation (many choices
here)
*Analog composite i/o (this narrows the field--and raises
the price)
*Win2K-friendly
*Nice touches would be analog component and s-video i/o
*Audio i/o is a don't care--I'll take care of that
separately on a dedicated card.
The really inexpensive cards do 1394/DV, but not analog.
The best fit seems to be the Miro DV500 ( features DV/Composite/S i/o
On the high end (ca. $2K)are the FAST MULTIMEDIA DV-Master
and the Canopus DV-Rex M1 (DV/Composite/S/ i/o,YUV out only
Targa has the 3000 everything format card but I'd have to
sell off a couple of kids to buy it.
Could I go with a 1394-only card and transcode to/from all
the others?
Opinions, anyone?!
