Capture Crash

JibJab wrote on 5/20/2004, 7:11 AM
Vegas' Video Capture works for a few minutes then causes my system to freeze up every single time I try to do a batch capture. Then I need to pull the plug out of the computer and put it back in to get it to restart.

I tried downloading the Vegas 5 update but that didn't help.

Has anyone run into this problem?

I am running on XP Media Edition.

Some additional information may be helpful. Does this only happen with batch captures or is it any capture activity? What motherboard do you have? In the past I have had problems with my motherboard that had a VIA chipset. How are you capturing, firewire or USB? If you are using USB, try using firewire.

Thanks for the quick reply, Scott.

The problem happens with any capture activity.

My motherboard uses Intel 865pe chipset.

I am using a firewire.

Any clue as to what's going on?

Go to the devince manager. Make sure that you don't have anything else specified on your 1394 bus controller except the Microsoft DV driver - if there's some other software, remove it.

Also check your network adapters (in the device manager); if there's a 1394 net adapter try disabling it.

Lastly, download a trial copy of Scenalyzer and see if it has the same problems.

Maybe other folks can think of additional ideas.

Oh, I just had another thought. Double check to make sure that your target capture disk has sufficient disk space.

I disabled the 1394 network adapter and it worked. Thanks so much for your help!
