not really. buy a $40 firewire pci card. although, V6b has been having 1394 connection issues. if you have V5, capture or print to tape through that... unless V6 wurx 4 U.

If you read your camcorder manual, I’d bet you’ll find that the USB port on your camera is only for transferring still images off of the memory card. So your camera probably isn’t even sending DV out the USB port.

As Bigsole said, the standard is to use firewire transfer.

really? i always get problems. clicking in audio and dropped frames. with v5 (luckily i didn't remove it) it's smooth sailing.

The new Panasonic 3CCD GS series camcorders have USB 2 high speed out (except for the GS65). However, video over USB is all DirectShow so the AVI files captured are Type 1. Vegas likes Type 2 files so if you try to capture you won't get the audio.

It could be that see more and more camcorder will switch from firewire to usb2, as far as I know due to licensing costs for firewire. It is not important today, but it could become a limitation of Vegas in the future.
