Capture Error

Im using Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum ver 10, I am trying to capture from device, JVC GY-HD200. Vegas recognizes the device, but as soon as I hit the play button or capture button I get a "device error" message that cause Vegas to ask me if I want to send an error report. The capture windown remains blue, the timecode counts, but after a few seconds I receive an errror. I have tried multiple tapes, all with the same result. I have also checked my firewire ports and cables, all are good.

This is a ProHD camcorder that retails for $5000.

Are you sure you want to try to edit it on a $70 program?

I would recommend you go with Vegas Pro. You'll have much better success working with these progressive scan HDV formats.

Try HDVSplit. If that works, then your OS is supported, and this seems to be a problem with Platinum 10 then. But if HDVSplit doesn't work either, and you're using Windows 7, you'd need to find online the HDV drivers for Windows7 and install them.

If HDVSplit works, use that. Sure it outputs .m2t and not .m2ts, but that's not a big deal.

im not editng with vegas, i only use it to capture. i have a 3000 dollar editing software, that does not do what i need it to do. from what ive learned it take 2-3 programs to achieve the final product.
