Capture Error? The last frame of a clip...

Hi! I´m having a problem in the capture of HDV clips. So, the problem is: The last frame (or a half-of-the-last-frame) of a clip, is the first frame of the next clip. Think: clips "one" and "two". The first frame of the clip "two" apears in the end of the clip "one". What I have to do? Thanks! (My camera is the Canon VIXIA HV30)

Hi, Maybe you can bring both clips to Vegas, select the first clip to end at the desired point in the second clip and render your first clip with the option "render loop only".
Ou seja, selecionar em cima naquela barrinha amarela em cima o começo e fim desejado para o seu clip 1. Clica 2x na barrinha amarela para ficar azul, vai em file, render as, loop only. Aí você tem seu clip 1 completo. Para o clip 2 é só escorregar o início da barrinha amarela para o comêço do clip 2 e o fim deste e render o loop. Nossa, desculpe a confusão. Espero que ajude.

Hi,

This is a known "feature" (read: BUG) in the HDV capture software in Vegas. The scene detection does not work properly, as you have noticed.

You have to manually cut the end of every clip, of capture your HDV material without scene detection, and then split your clips manually, wherever needed...

I sincerely hope SCS will finally fix this stupid and long known BUG. It has caused so much unnecessary work. HDV is long from dead, so please SCS - fix this.

There are other capture software that does a better job... You could search this forum for more info on that...

This is a quirk in the scene detection by Vegas that should be addressed some time. At the moment there is nothing you can do about it; in editing I simply cut the last frame(s) off.

Not a solution, but it should be an accidental rarity if you want to use the first or last few frames of any clip. Generally, start early and finish late.

Fully agree, it normally never happens that you have useful data in the first or last couple of frames...

But that is not my problem with this bug - that forces me to edit i/o points in every ("#Â¤%(Â¤#/#&Â¤% clip on the timeline, even if they would have othervise been ok to use - as is. And its not only the video, also the audio is missing for a couple of frames at the end of the clips...

Imagine having 300 separate clips on the timeline, already "cut" during the shooting phase. As it is now I have to edit each and every. I have reasons why I would like to capture as clips, but this problem forces me to capture whole tapes... Pathetic that this has not yet been adressed by SCS. Wonder if someone has made a script for cutting clips automatically to help fixing this faster?

I have this exact problem with my Sony HC3. As a result I use HDVsplit (free download) instead.
