I have a 400mhz Pentium II w/ 96 MB RAM & Windows 98. I
would really like some recommendations on good capture
cards that work well with Video Factory.
You'll need at least Win98SE, for DV support you'll want to
get an OHCI IEEE 1394 DV card, otherwise many MJPEG cards
are supported also in VideoFactory and Video Capture.

Try the Dazzle Digital Video Creator - the USB version!!
It is BY FAR the cheapest and BEST way to input VCR or
CAmcorder OR S-video in to and out of your computer via
USB. USB's 12mbits per sec is MORE than enoush speed to
carry this AND DV back and fourth!
JUST DO NOT INCLUDE IT IN YOUR PREFERENCES FOR CAPTURE
WITHIN VIDEO FACTORY - very bad!
Just simply create your AVI, then save as MOV or MPEG2 and
then use the Dazzle to output the sved MOV or MPEG2 to
tape - EITHER NTSC (for VHS ) OR DV camera input.
REMEMBER EVERYBODY
NTSC is NOT DV. DV is Digital and NTSC will ALLWAYS be for
analog American video like VHS or camcorder RCA
input/output.

Hi, Dan...actually no. DV is either NTSC or PAL and SF
Video Capture lets the user know via the status bar whether
the user is using a DV NTSC device or a DV PAL device.
Note, for PAL support you will need to have DirectX 8
installed from the DirectX 8 SDK CD. We will be providing
an update to Video Capture for full DirectX8 support in the
near future. Thanks!
