Capture format

Hi, I'm new to this forum and would like to know if there are other options to capturing video in Vegas Movie Studio 6 besides the avi format. It takes up to much hard drive space. I borrowed a usb capture device that uses the mpeg 2 format and its night and day as far as file size and I cant see any quality problems between the two. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks and I look forward to visiting this site often.

Stick with avi! Capturing via USB is notorious for introducing problems with the audio and video going out of synch. Editing MPEG2 is possible, but it's a lossy format, so the quality does suffer and the editor (not just VMS) will be a lot slower and unresponsive.

If HD space is a problem then the best solution is to buy another disk.
