Capture freezes

I've been able to capture from my Sony FX-1 without any problems until now. I had the following problem come up in Vegas 6c but it continued after updating to 6d.....

First of all, it took a long time for the Capture dialogue box to come up. It recognized the camera ok. It would start capturing ok. Then around the 3-4 minute point the dialogue box indicates capturing is still continuing. However the counter for play back has stopped and the preview shows a still image, even though the camera itself is still playing.

When I stop the capture everything freezes. I did get an "Error 0x800705aa" message once. I even had trouble ending the task through Task Manager. After rebooting the same issue comes up.

And wouldn't you know it, this happens when I have to do a project for someone who's actually willing to pay me!

Thanks in advance,
Aldo.

So far I did a virus check, defragmented the drive and did a system restore. There was a windows update over the weekend, and restoring it before that date seemed to initially help: For one video I was able to capture 29 minutes before Vegas Capture froze up. I then tried capturing about 10 separate clips, each 2 minutes long. I got as far as the 10th clip and then the same problem returned.

Again, everything was working fine up until yesterday.
