Capture HDV internal capture with scene split

I am capturing the m2t files directly from my FX1 using Vegas 6 internal video capture and I cant find the option to capture each scene as a separate clip. So far my 80 clip tape is one really large *.m2t file.

Can someone point me to the option to capture with scene splitting.

Thank you!

Vegas internal capture doesn't currently have this - I think Cineform does though.

Unfortunately, Vegas capture doesn't include this essential feature (don't ask me why). Scenalyzer unfortunately hasn't (yet) been upgraded to handle HDV.

The utility lots of people recommend is HDVSplit. You can read about it and download it here:

HDVSplit

I haven't yet used it myself, so I cannot give you any idea of how well it works (or doesn't).

P.S. One problem in capturing lots of m2t files is that Vegas chokes when you put more than about 80 m2t files on the timeline at once.

Correct -- using Cineform you have the capability to capture m2t with split yes/no and subsequently convert and split (if you didn't on capture), or you can capture/convert with split yes/no (and not keep the m2t file). The speed of your machine will influence your workflow.

The newer version fo HDV Split works great for my HVR-A1U. I am not sure if it states it supports your camera, but they have a list on their site. I have used this program ever since the second time I dealt with HDV. No problems here.
