Capture Image Question ... How Do I From Timeline

Seems an easy enough question but its got me baffled.

I've already captured from DV and now want to get some clips from the final vid ( or their appropriate captures ) for the DVD cover. When I first captured I had no way of knowing what would make the final cut, so how do I do it now ? With 40+ hours of tape I defiantly don't want to go through them to find those moments.

NOt quite sure what you mean---are you asking to capture a still from the timeline??

Exactly. Sorry, should have said it again in the post.

Okay---I think we are on the same page----move the cursor to the point on the timeline you want to capture. Go to your preview window--make sure you dont have the icon for an external monitor checked--then click the little icon on the right side of the window that looks like a little floppy disk---Thats all there is too it!

I'll assume (ass/u/me) that you want some stills for cover art or chapter buttons. First, you probably want an image from the finished video and not the 39.5 hours you didn't use and that the audience won't see.
Just put the finished video on the timeline and scroll through the video until you find the image you want. The image will be displayed in the Video Preview screen. Set the cursor to the left or right until you find the sharpest, clearest frame for your still. Then go to the top of the Video Preview screen and click on the "SAVE" Icon (Floppy disk lookin' thing). Follow the prompts to name the image; store in the appropriate folder and determine if you want a JPEG or PNG.

Before you click on save, though, make sure your preview quality is set to highest, set your preview size to project size, and change your project properties to noninterlaced (I'm doing this from memory away from Vegas).
