capture in FCP to Vegas

All of my work is filmed on a Canon GL2 16.9 Frame. it is then being captured in FCP. I need to know what the FCP settings need to be so that when I import it into vegas it is 16.9.

I am struggling with this but this is the only way that I have as a productive way to capture the amount of footage, and I am more productive in vegas to edit.

I have tried all of the NTSC settings in the FCP capture settings and then exported to QT movie and it still comes into Vegas W/O being in the 16.9 aspect ratio.

any help would be great, I am in Madison, WI so if the guys in Madison want to get involved please feel free to send me a e-mail on how I can contact you that would be great.

In Vegas RClick the media and change the aspect ratio, job done.

Bob, thanks for the quick reply. If I am cutting this-up will I have to Rclick every clip or can I select all and change the aspect ratio?

I believe you can do it with several clips selected at once, Lightfoot.

Also, if you do this to a clip before splitting it up, all the pieces retain that aspect setting.

how would I do this before splitting it up? I use the trimmer to cut my film and then add it to the timeline.

I just want the QT movie to be 16.9 so that when I cut it in the trimmer and add it to the time line it is ready to be rendered, and has the 16.9 aspect ratio.

Drag it to the project media pool first, right mouse button click there, set the aspect ratio under properties, then move to the trimmer for splitting.

Or, split it on the timeline.

I will give that a try today at the office. Thanks for the help, now I can enjoy a golf weekend with the boys and not think about work, I doubt it will help my game....
