Capture issues

Hi all I'm new to the Vegas world and I find these forums along with the Creative Cow and DMNforums to be very useful and insightful when it comes to looking for advice on just about anything related to editing.

I have done extensive searches and still have not found an answer to the issue I have been having. I am attempting to capture 14 hours of DV footage onto my hard drive using the Vegas capture utility. After I finished my 12th hour of footage, I noticed that all of my footage from the 1st, 2nd, and first half of 3rd hour of footage is inaccessible, either by Vegas (importing media) or by Windows Media player whereas I double checked some of these files right after capture to make sure nothing was wrong with the file. But now none of the programs are recognizing it and are unable to open it even though the HD is still seeing it. Have the files become corrupt, for some reason or another? Do I have to recapture these files?

For info, here is my system, which is brand new, specifically built for my project (thanks to advice from these various forums)

P4 3.0 HTT

ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe mobo

3 HD's #1 - WD 40gb for OS, 2nd is WD 250gb SATA for video, 3rd - WD 200gb SATA for audio.

DMA is enable on all drives.

Am I doing something wrong or is my system just not optimized or stability with this knd of data? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
