Capture not working with Sony camera in pass through mode

With 4.0e Vegas video I am able to capture over firewire video from my tapes played in my camera. My camera is the Sony TRV350 digital Hi8. My problem happens when I try to use the analog pass through feature. The video is making it through the camera and my firewire card into the computer. I have WinDVR on my system and it can display and capture this same video source, but it only saves as mpg and I would really like to have the higher quality avi file from Vegas. The capture feature in Vegas Video will only preview the video for a couple of seconds when I first open the capture utility. Vegas then display a statement in the preview window that says “insert tape”. Is this a bug with this camera and Vegas video? The capture utility works flawlessly capturing my video from digital Hi 8 tapes played in the camera. Has anyone captured analog video with Vegas through a digital camera? . Any help would be greatly appreciated! I searched this forum for capture issues, but did not find anything like this. Thanks again

Sounds like you've got device control enabled in capture prefs.

This needs turning off, otherwise Vegas is looking for a dv tape in the camera.

Under Capture/Options/Preferences, deselect "Enable DV device control"

Thank you for the help, I did have the control enabled and it was the cause of my problems. Thanks again!
