Capture problem JVC deck via ADVC100

I am at a standstill.
I am trying to capture VHS tape through my JVC SR-VS30U dual miniDV SVHS Deck.
I have the deck fed into my Canopus ADVC100 conversion box.
The box is hooked up via firewire and I have composite audio and SVHS (composite video works fine but I want to use SVJS for quality reasons)from the deck to the ADVC100.
The problem is that I can capture video from the mini DV without a hitch, but not VHS.I get no preview at all.
I am able to capture video in this configuration in my Ulead MSP 6.5 video capture without a problem, but the same setup won't work in Vegas Capture.
I would rather capture in Vegas that MSP as I have decided to use Vegas over MSP for my editing.
I tried to disable deck control from the preferences and also tried to capture via from current tape location and also capture tape, all with no success.
If I hookup the deck via firewire which I can do, The picture appears for a second but all I can hear is audio in the preview.

Can anyone give me some help what I need to do to get converted analog into Vegas.

Thanks for the help...

If you can play video from the VHS portion of the deck out the Svideo to a TV correctly, you should have no problems with sending it thru the ADVC-100. Make sure the ADVC-100 is set to analog. Also, make sure you turn off scene detection as well as Deck Control. Vegas does not care what device you have hooked up to the Canopus. As long as the Canopus and Deck are functioning fine, you should have no problems. Make sure you have the latest version of VidCap that comes with VV3.0c. If composite output/input works fine, maybe something is wrong with the Svideo input on the ADVC-100 or the Svideo output on your deck!
