What do you mean by "split" if it's still one big clip?

sounds like a dropped frame - (if it is a camera or tape problem) your camera cruises past it but the capture program picked up a little glitch. There could be a number of reasons why it dropped the frame. Have you tried recapturing it? It could be a bad or worn tape, dirty head, an ailing camera, loose cable, computer glitch. . .

I would try recapturing. If the problem keeps coming up with different tapes - and you are sure your cables are good - it may be time to have your camera serviced.

Or possibly a run through with a cleaning tape.

New camera. Tape does not split when playing through camera. I think I will re capture and see. This has happened twice now. So far I have been able to crossfade and manage. This is hard to do with live choral and band performance

Make sure you have your camera clock set. If you haven't set the clock, the clips won't split on capture. This is because the capture splits clips at points where there are breaks in the timecode. If the clock is not set, there are no breaks and you get just one long clip.

Thank you. I will try that. I don't think it is a dropped frame because none where detected. I shot video with vx- 2100 but I use a cheaper Panisonic to transfer to computer. Could this be the problem?
