Capture Stops Before End

Has anyone had problems with VV30c capture stopping during a capture? I just press the "Capture Video" button and it usually works fine and creates many AVI clips. But sometimes, it stops without error even though there is more on the tape.

Anyone seen this?

Also, does anyone know if the new DirectX9 would help with DV capture? Is anyone running it with VV30c?

Ron, I'm no expert on this but one thing you may want to check is whether you have the "stop capture on dropped frames" option checked. If so, this may be the cause of your problem. To be honest, I've never used this option so I have no idea if the capture just stops or whether it throws up a message. Still, worth a look!

Thanks Ian. You might be right. I know I've tried so many settings that I may have told the capture utility to stop after dropped frames and to not notify me after the capture is complete which would describe my situation.

I'm not sure if this will answer my frustration with my setup on capturing, but yesterday I decided to turn off the option where the capture utility controls my Canon XL1s. I read somewhere on the internet that another person had the excact same symptoms I experience with my XL1s - "one day it works fine and other days it just won't capture a full tape woithout dropped frames or errors". I thought it was just my setup having these strange episodes, but it was nice to see someone else with the XL1s has a simliar situation. Also, with the control camera option disabled, the responsivness of the capture program is 100% normal. Witht the control option enabled, the program is noticibly sluggish when navigating or pressing buttons. This symptom was also confirmed by another XL1s user and Vegas.

Anyhow, if disabling the camera control in the capture utility will make it work more reliably for me, then I'm very happy. I'll just have to try more captures to see if this really helped.
