Capture Video

When I capture video to Vegas 5 using Son Video Capture several raw video from several previous projects load into the Clip Explorer.
Now,---I'm quickly running out of room on my hard drives and I wonder if this is part of the reason.
Question is,---should I wipe this video or will I also remove it from the hard drive by so doing?

how big is your hard drive.

let me put it to you this way. for me to capture 2 hours of video in avi, it takes 37 gigs. to render that same 2 hours of video captured in mpj, takes up 6 gigs.

avi is better for editting i think.

Around 5 hundred gigs,---four drives

The explorer simply shows what's on your harddrive -- it doesn't increase their sizes or "add" any new files.

[Edit: I should say, it doesn't add any major new files. It adds thumbnails, of course, which are very small.]

So, yes, if you delete them in your explorer, you're deleting them from your harddrive. If you've got so much that you're running out of room on 500GB worth of drives, it may be time to do some housecleaning anyhow. Delete what you don't need, backup what you may need in the future, and keep what you need now.

Thanks Rob.
Pack rat tendencies are carrying over to my computers.
Time for a sweep out.
