capture video problems

When I capture tape, I will sometimes get a capture video file that has blochey pixels in it. I then delete the file and do it again then it's fine. Why does this happen at random and is anyone else having this problem? I hate having to spend an hour to capture a tape, just to have to recapture it again.

I had that same problem last year when my media drives were crammed, the rotten Maxtor Firewire drive being the worst offender. What I ended up doing (duing a weekend and no one in this small city sells external firewaire or USB drives) was export the finished sections to tape then delete the source files. Defragged with the windows 2000 tool, not Norton Utilities, then carried on. One I got the drives down to running at no more than 70 percent capacity the problem went away. BTW: I was also getting dropped frames before freeing space.
