Capture With Time Code Displayed

Folks--

Here's what I'd like to do. Is there a way to do it?

I'd like to capture at a low res using Windows Media 9 capture. Then, I'd like to burn the timecode from the tape in so that after editing I can see where the remaining parts came from on the tape, and then recapture at high res.

It would be great if this could happen in one step. It appears that I'd have to capture first, then use the timecode filter to render the timecode on the video.

But, that won't work because the timecode filter apparently uses the timecode from the clip (i.e., they all start at zero) instead of the timecode on the tape.

This seems like very useful idea to me. Any one else doing this?

Thanks--

If you have an analog capture card, you can capture using the video out with Timecode display turned on.

I also believe you canc set the filter timecode to start on a specific time, but I can't remember now how. I will write later if noone chimes in.
