The video sceens that are captured from my digital camcorder appears a bit dark (at least the .AVI file shows this.) Anyway I can lighten it up using Movie Studio (or during the capture process?) Thanks.
If you captured via Firewire, then the video is exactly how you shot it.
Before you start making it brighter or such, you might do a test output and see what it looks like on your TV. YOu computer monitor might need to be adjusted.
I agree with DaveT2, make a DVD and try iot on your TV. I shot some video, spent hours editing it and lightening up, only to burn a DVD and see that it looked all washed up on my TV.
Yep, all other things being equal, your computer monitor will probably look a couple of shades darker than the TV. Normally this isn't very noticeable, but if you have darker footage to begin with it can look positively crepuscular* on the timeline. If you're final product is intended for TV viewing then you'll probably be allright. Do some test viewing of short sections to make sure. If your final audiance will be watching this on their computer screens then you might want to lighten it up just a bit. Go easy though.
