I want to use VidCap3 to capture from an analog source by hooking it up to my camcorder's RCA inputs and then running firewire from the camera to the computer.
I can already accomplish this, but it only allows me to do so if I have a tape in the camera. Right now I put a tape in just to make it happy.. and it entails me hitting the capture button in VidCap, which in turn remotely starts playback on the DV tape, necessitating me to hit stop on the camera real quick right after. The result is that I do get my analog captures, but I have to leave a lot of lead time and I get a tiny chunk of what was on the DV tape at the beginning of each AVI.
I remember there being some way in VidCap2 to avoid all of this and get VidCap to work with the camera merely as an external A/D converter, but I can't remember how.
Advice?
