capturing and deleting video

Hi,
I hope someone knows this answer. I have 2 computers and 1 I use just to capture videos,render, then burn to DVD. Well my hard drive (200gb) is filling up very fast. When finished I delete the video from my "video" folder, then delete it from my hard drive (external drive), but it seems like it still is keeping around 4.5 gb SOMEWHERE because I am down to like 40% free space, and there is basically NOTHING else on this computer, I don't use it for anything else. I even type the file name I use for the video in "Search" thinking I could find where it is building up.... still nothing.
Pretty soon my whole hard drive will be full, and I've deleted everything I can think of.....S.O.S. HELP!!!! .. thanks

I ran into a similar problem recently. I rarely use the recycle bin, preferring to just hit shift-delete to get rid of files immediately. But I saw the same thing happening on a drive that was nearly-full and not reclaiming the gigabytes that I was deleting. I eventually found out that Norton Systemworks has a "protected" recycle bin that scarfs up files deleted in this manner -- they don't really get deleted until you empty this protected area.

Perhaps I've over-answered. If you're using the regular recycle bin, make sure that you empty it....

I assume you've also deleted the DVD files that DVDA prepares?

Open Windows Explorer. In Tools -> Folder Options -> View tab, check "Show Hidden Files and Folders.

Go to this folder:

C:\Documents and Settings\Your User Name\Local Settings\Temp

Where "Your User Name" will be your actual user name.

Delete all files in the temp directory, and then empty the recycle bin.

You can also use a utility like Ace Utilities (highly recommended) to find and erase all sorts of other temporary files.

I empty my recycle bin, and disc clean-up all the time (including defragment)
So you think it may be in Norton? If so, can I go in there and delete them somehow?

It is possible. If you have a Norton Protected Recycle bin, check it and empty, if necessary. It was installed on my system by Norton SystemWorks.

I delete the created file that is in the video folder, the small DVD file when I save. Just in case, where is the dvd prepared file, I always overwrite it when I render/prepare a new video. I imagine wherever that is should only be 1
