I am still having the same problem capturing video. Thanks for the help so far. My system specs are as follows: Pentium 4 1GB RAM, windows XP, 250 GB hard drive. I am using a Sony vcr-dx 2000 and transferring through a IEEE1394 card. My whole system locks up with no error messages. Any help is greatly appreciated.

A simple question, how many pieces of equipment are connected to your firewire card? Make sure it is only the Sony and nothing else.
I would check your IRQ's and make sure no anti-virus software is running. Is your hardrive in the proper dma mode? Are you capturing to your OS hard drive? That's a no-no. Is your system hanging and you have to re- boot or does it just stop capturing? Does the driver load ok when you plug in your vcr?
