Capturing problems

Hey all,

I just dropped a 1394 into my box and am using a Canon GL1. When I open capture in VV3, it captures with dropped frames. After the first capture, turning on the camera completely locks up the program. Nothing responds unless I turn the camera off.

My system is a PIII 850, dual drives (dedicated is 12G, 7200rpm ata/66). I'm operating on a 16MB AGP card. Any help would be appreciated.

Could be something wrong with the card or cable. The first one I got (a Pyro) didn't work right, but when I put in a Western Digital it worked fine. You might want to try moving it to another PCI slot if you have one. Also, it's a good idea to turn the camera on before starting the capture program as the interrupts seem to get confused. WinXP does a much better job with handling this, but in Win ME (what I had before) I had lots of problems if I didn't turn the camera on first.

Make sure that the 1394 card is OHCI compliant and you use the drivers that are included in Windows. Do not install any drivers with the 1394 OHCI card use the Windows ones.
