ok i defraged both drives...made lots of space...uninstalled all possible conflicts and then reformatted my C: drive just to be sure...and i still can't capture more than 5 seconds...the capture freezes and i have to reboot before VVC will recognize my vid camera again...
ready to scream..is there any 'free' program out there to capture with and i can edit on VV or can anyone help me with my problems...well my capturing problems anyway.

You want to use VV3 to capture because of the codec.

Have you uninstalled Vegas then reinstalled it yet? A complete uninstall, not repair.

Toxic didn't specify that he was capturing DV, but since he mentioned camera control then he probably is. If so, then VidCap isn't using any codec at all. The camera supplies the DV codec and VidCap merely copies the file through firewire.

Several people have reported using Scenalizer with good results.
