capturing scenes

i have a dv tape full of footage i shot. i want to capture it all using my dv camera, but i don't want to capture each scene seperately (stopping and playing my dv camera repeatedly). on the other hand, capturing the whole tape in one go will leave me with one big file, while i'd rather have the scenes captured as seperate .avi files so that i can delete the ones i don't need.
is there a way to capture the whole tape in one go and have vegas automatically detect scene breaks (places where i stopped recording and then continued), and then save the scenes as seperate files in the media bin?
i asked this question on a different forum and someone mentioned something about vegas having a 'scene detection' feature. i couldn't find it or anything about it in the help menu or the user manual.

using vegas 4
thanks

Sure. Turn ON Scene Detection.

In the capture program, go to Options - Preferences - Capture tab. It's the first option.

IF you do not have the date/time set on the camera, scene detection will not work.

If your footage is analog (beta sp, vhs, etc), you can use Scenalyzer to capture. Enbale its optical scene detection.
