i have always captured video directly from my mini DV camcorder, so this A to D is new to me. i'm helping a friend at work out and he has a Hi-8 camcorder. my camcorder is supposed to do A to D conversion. i'm going to run the Hi-8 into my mini DV, then into my computer via firewire. anything i need to change in the capture utility do to this? i thought i would probably have to turn device control off.

also, i think scene detection won't work, so it will be one big AVI. i won't be editing anything - just going straight to DVD. so, i'll probably load the DV AVI directly into DVD-A, instead of having vegas render to MPEG2. any problems with this?
