capuring Still Pictures

caveman wrote on 11/10/2004, 10:07 AM
(1) I copied some still pictures off an other compter over a network. I can only get this project to run if the other computer is on the on the network. How can I get Vegas 5 to run this project on its own with out linking back to the other computer.

(2) I would like to scroll some text sideways, like a door opening and welcome comming out.

Thanks to all

Ron

Did you copy the pictures, or just use the explorer and media tool and find them on the other computer?

If you copy the pictures to your computer, then find them, you won't need the other computer.

It sounds like you may have made a link to them on the other computer but didn’t actually copy them. When you drag and drop the folder from the other computer, hold the CTRL key down. You will see a plus (+) sign next to your cursor indicating they will be added (copied) to your computer.

Alternately use the right mouse button to drag and drop them and you will get a context menu pop up when you drop asking if you want to copy, move or link. Select copy from this menu.

I used explorer and found them on the other computer. Can I copy them into media pool on top of what is there, or delete what is there and then copy.

Golly, there is a MUCH simpler way to fix this.

Open your project (with the remote computer turned on, of course).

Create a new directory on one of your local hard drives.

In Vegas, click on File -> Save As ...

Navigate to the new folder. Type a file name for your project, and then just before you click on "Save" to save the project, click on the checkbox "Copy and trim media with project." This will copy every file that is in your Media Pool from whereever it exists, onto your local hard drive. This will consolidate everthing, no muss, no fuss. And no need for a link to that remote computer.
