Dear Vegas friends--
The ten-minute movie I wrote and produced this past summer called "The Roots of Sacramento Jazz" is now up on the internet for anyone to view. You can use either Windows Media Player or Quicktime. You'll find it by just pasting the following address into your web browser: <http://southwestonline.sitestream.com/PlaceCalledSacramento.vsml>

This movie was presented on October 2, 2004 at the Crest Theater in Sacramento as part of the "A Place Called Sacramento" film competition for local producers. It was very well received by the 800 people in attendance.

I'm getting to like this! Any comments?

I watched the whole thing.... great job!

The piano player had me laughing. What camera did you use?

It was a two-camera shoot, obviously. The long shots were on a PD170, as most long shots were. The close-ups were on a VX1000. I had a time getting both formats into a 16:9 format, but finally figured it out. Yes, the piano player got the biggest laugh at the showing in the theater.

Tailgait! My type of musik! . . and yes the, the pianist had me rolling about. . . super project, executed with a light touch and consistant videography - well done!

Heard this last night on the BBC . . Drummer Joke:

Drummer decides he wants to buy a piano . . goes into a shop.

Drummer - "Excuse me young man, I'd like to buy a piano!"

Young Man - "But, you're a drummer!"

Drummer - "How on Earth did you know THAT?!?"

Young Man - "This is a Fish shop!"

.. . apologies to Animal from the Muppets . .

Tailgait,
Excellent piece. Kept my interest throught the whole thing. Liked the use of the computer monitor in the background. The beginning seemed a little abrupt but fit the style. Good show.

Thank you all. As I'm 72 years old I'm happy I can still do a video thing. I have a lot of fun with Vegas and I have used Trinity, NewTek, Applied Magic and, of course, Premier--and Vegas kicks butt to all of those.

Joke for Grazie--Wingy Manone was a one armed trumpet play which Bing Crosy sort of sponsored, but a really fine musician in his own right. His most famous quote, as a band leader, is "Life is just one bad drummer after another."
