Casio .AVI no Audio VMSP 10

I've enjoyed using the last four versions of VMS, and excitedly bought VMSP 10. I loaded a bunch of Casio Exlim EX-S12 camera .avi 720p files to build a video, but their audio tracks are blank. I ran VMSP 9 on the same computer (Dell i7) and the same files work perfectly with normal audio.

Help please. Do I need to reload codecs? What has changed. Converting these Casio camera videos and photos to videos and DVDs is the only reason for me to have this program.

Thanks in advance, Curt

You may have run across a bug, and I suggest opening a support ticket with Sony.

In the meantime, can you upload a sample clip from your Casio somewhere?

Thanks for the attention MusicVid. I'm glad to help, but ignorant of the procedures. How do I open a support ticket? And do you have a suggested upload site for a sam[ple Casio .avi?

1) Technical Support link at the top of this page.
2) MediaFire (there are others)

Here is a Casio .avi file on MediaFire:

I'll put letter into Technical Support. Thanks!

I can confirm your issue.
File opens fine in Vegas Pro 8.0c, but no audio playback or render in VMS 10. Apparently a bug, perhaps VMS 10 does not support 4-bit audio.

Until you get a response from Sony, your simplest workaround is to open the AVI in Sound Forge, save as WAV, and bring that file into Vegas as your audio.

If you don't have Sound Forge, you can set AVIDemux to Copy video, PCM audio, AVI file type, and it will work just fine also.

I have added your issue to my pocket cam tutorial here:

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the detailed response. I may just stick with VMSP 9 until they get this fixed.
