catalyst browse - logging?

i might be being dense (it has been inferred in other threads ;-)) but...

i cannot see anyway to log multiple takes in a clip?

eg. i have a 30 min talking head and want to log 3 x 1 min takes within it.

i see no option for doing so, i've rtfm, and it seems in/out just simply marks in/out without any logging record recorded, nor the ability to do multiple i/o's in a take?

does this mean i have to buy catalyst prepare to do such basic logging?

well, just checked the blurb over at sony for prepare and it doesn't seem to do this either. am i missing something?

Nothing against posting the question in the Vegas forum, but I think we need a Catalyst forum. That way people can filter by the users that actually use that product. I am pretty sure the crickets will be deafening in there.

On the topic, have you tried the Edit tool? I think Browse is not really meant to do anything but view. I think Prepare is a format conversion/CC tool, and Edit is meant to be an DIT/assistant editor tool.

Oh, bother !!!

But nice to see that Sony 'hardware' now seems to know that SCS exists !

thanks - i've posted over there as well. doesn't seem to be much activity as yet....

well i had an even harder look at browse / prepare and unfortunately neither seem to have simple, straightforward logging, which with markers, regions and subclips, etc., in vegas is a doddle, either on the tl or in the trimmer.

haven't looked at edit - why should i when i have vegas?

just had a reply over at the other forum:

What you want to do is create subclips. That is a feature of Catalyst Prepare; Catalyst Browse does not have the ability to create subclips.

looks like what i'm after
