CBR in VV3 in MC render does NOT work!

sebus wrote on 3/16/2002, 5:50 AM
11 Gb 51 min 30 sec DV avi, interlaced
Only change made to the "raw" file was some trimming of the bottom edge.
Rendered using built-in SVCD PAL template (VBR, interlaced) worked fine.

But the quality is NOT what I like. I prefer to have the avi deinterlaced & encoded as progresive.

So I made the very small mod to the template (changed to CBR 2375 & progressive)
Tried it twice so far & every time it stops with the STUPID message "..error could not be determined" in ~ 1/5 of encoding.

Doing it again in VBR works.
This simply indicated some bug that does prevent CBR from working corrrectly!

Am I the only person having problem with CBR?
Or nobody else is using it?

Thanks

Hi sebus,

Unfortunately, I can't duplicate the problem. Maybe it's something in your source file or your system configuration. If you can provide more details, maybe that will give us some insight.

How much more details?
Standard PAL DV avi type 2, 51m 30 sec.
VBR works, CBR dies ~ 20% with non descriptive error "... not be determined"

Doing this same file in TMPEGEnc as CBR MPEG2 works no problem, so there is NO problem with the file.
Also I had a replacement dll mailed to me from other user, so the cause must be known (it fixed the problem for him, he had it from Sonic support, I will test it tonight)

If you are hanging during a render, try this...

Go to:

ftp://porker.sonicfoundry.com/

username: dude
password: sweet

-----------------------

copy the file

"mpgmux.dll"

and paste it into C:\Program Files\Sonic Foundry\Shared Plug-Ins\File Formats\MCMPEG, overwriting the existing version.

Close and restart Vegas, and re-render.

And the replacement dll solves the problem. Now CBR works great.
Why in such case the dll is not incorporated into the original program?

This fix is very new, and will be incorporated in all future releases.

Hey, I downloaded the "new" update patch, and it still hangs up on one video that I am trying to render. It will render with VBR, but hangs EVERY time with CBR.

What the heck is going on????????????????????????
